Cancellation & Refund Policy

What happens to your money if plans change — yours, ours, or the weather’s.

This policy forms part of our Terms of Service.

If you cancel

  • More than 14 days before departure — full refund, less any third-party costs already committed on your behalf. Those are typically permits, lift passes, internal flights and non-refundable supplier deposits, and we will itemise them.
  • Within 14 days — we retain the 25% deposit.
  • Within 72 hours — the booking is non-refundable.
  • Not arriving — non-refundable.

Cancel in writing to salaam@yarbal.me. The date we receive it is the date that counts.

If we cancel

You choose: a full refund, or a transfer to another date at no charge. If we cancel because of force majeure — and that means genuine force majeure, not inconvenience — we refund everything we can recover from suppliers, which may not be everything you paid.

If the weather or the authorities cancel

This is the common case here, so it is worth being precise.

Where a component cannot run — the gondola is closed on avalanche advisory, the Razdan Pass is shut, a permit is refused, a road is blocked — we will first try to substitute something of equivalent value. If we cannot, we refund that component.

Third-party costs already paid on your behalf are refunded only if the third party refunds us. We will pursue it and show you the outcome.

We do not refund accommodation or guiding that was delivered because a separate activity did not run, and we cannot compensate for a shortened trip caused by flight or road disruption. This is what your insurance is for.

Refunds in Pi

If you paid in Pi, we refund in Pi, in the amount originally received — not the amount that would be worth the same in rupees today. If you paid 400 π, an approved full refund returns 400 π, whatever Pi is worth at that moment. That is the only way a Pi refund can be made without one side speculating at the other's expense, and by paying in Pi you accept it.

Refunds go to the wallet the payment came from. Pi transactions are irreversible, so a refund is a fresh transaction and takes as long as the network takes.

Refunds in fiat

To the original method, within 14 working days of us agreeing the refund. Bank charges and any currency movement between payment and refund are not ours to absorb.

Trek-specific

On multi-day treks, once the crew is engaged, permits are drawn and supplies are bought, most of the cost has already been spent whether you walk or not. Cancellation inside 14 days of a trek departure is non-refundable. If you are turned back on the mountain on medical or safety grounds, we refund the unused camp days only.

How to raise it

Email salaam@yarbal.me with your booking reference. We aim to respond within 5 working days and to resolve within 30.
